Previous situation.

The client is using pneumatic centrifugal pumps for the recirculation of 8 colors of flexographic inks for a label printing process, they must have the possibility of varying the speed of recirculation due to the variation in ink consumption depending on the printing, Each of these 8 pneumatic pumps consumes 30 cfm's, which represents a total consumption of 240 cfm's, for which the client had a 100hp compressor operating almost exclusively for this application.

Execution process.

An analysis of the operation of the existing equipment was carried out, the real requirement of the application, chemical compatibility of the materials and the recommendation of a more suitable equipment for the process was made. A sample of the equipment was presented and an agreement was reached to purchase equipment and carry out the test.

Result, impact on the client.

A reduction in power consumption for the application was made by going from using a 100 hp compressor to drive 8 pumps to consuming less than 4hp altogether for the 8 recommended pumps. There is better control of the recirculation speed of the flexographic ink due to the digital control of the equipment that indicates how many pulses per minute the equipment is making, maintaining the appropriate level in the ink tray, avoiding printing failures. The cost of replacement equipment and spare parts for the application was greatly reduced.
